KUALA LUMPUR – Police arrested a 24-year-old non-citizen in Seremban on Monday after the man was allegedly caught in possession of huge volumes of child pornography in his laptop and handphone.
In a statement early this morning, Royal Malaysia Police secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the team from Bukit Aman’s Sexual, Women, and Child Investigation Division (D11) arrested the international student following a collaborative effort with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“Investigations revealed that the suspect had utilised social media apps to communicate and entrap victims in addition to committing ‘sextortion’ to obtain sexually explicit images from them.
“All victims were foreign underage children,” she said.
Noorsiah added that the suspect will be brought to the Seremban magistrates’ court today to be charged under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a jail sentence up to 20 years and whipping, as well as under Section 5 of the act, which carries a jail sentence up to five years and a RM10,000 fine, or both, if found guilty. – The Vibes, September 22, 2022
