KUALA LUMPUR – Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will keep his cabinet post if Barisan Nasional (BN) wins the 15th general election, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

This is also if he himself becomes prime minister again, Ismail Sabri was quoted as saying by Bernama in Jempol, Negri Sembilan, where he and Khairy attended a Jelajah Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia event.

Khairy is the MP for Rembau, in Negri Sembilan.

“In Negri Sembilan, as a result of Khairy being health minister, the government approved the Infectious Disease Institute of Malaysia in Bandar Enstek, Nilai with an allocation of RM600 million.

“Losing Khairy will be a loss because if another person gets the portfolio, the project might be cancelled,” Ismail Sabri said.

Ismail Sabri, an Umno vice-president, has been named the party’s prime minister candidate for GE15.

The party, however, and especially its president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, has been pressuring him to hold early elections instead of allowing Parliament to complete its full term which expires in July next year. – The Vibes, October 8, 2022
