KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan (PH) will reveal on October 29 if its chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will contest the Tambun parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15), Perak PH chief Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa said.

An announcement will be made that day during the Perak PH Convention, Mujahid was quoted saying by the New Straits Times at the PH roadshow and ceramah in Tg Piandang, Perak, last night.

“It would be an honour for us here in Perak. On whether Anwar will contest in Tambun or not, that will be announced on that day during the PH Convention,” he said.

Anwar, who is PKR president and Port Dickson MP, said in August that he was considering an invitation to contest in Tambun on the invitation of the local PKR division there.

The incumbent is Bersatu’s Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who is also the youth and sports minister and previous Perak menteri besar.

Anwar has also said previously that he plans to contest in “traitors’ seats” in GE15, in reference to MPs who had defected from PH parties during the Sheraton Move in 2020, which led to the collapse of the PH federal government. – The Vibes, October 9, 2022
