KOTA KINABALU – Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Barisan Nasional (BN) have concluded their seat negotiations and will announce their candidates for the 15th general election (GE15) soon, the state ruling coalition’s chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said.

The announcement of candidates will be done a few days before nomination day on November 5, and will also mark GRS’ official electoral pact with BN.

He said the seat-sharing formula had already been completed, putting to rest earlier speculation that seat talks had hit a deadlock for several constituencies.

Hajiji also welcomed the election pledge by BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to give a deputy prime minister post to a Sabah MP if BN wins big in GE15.

“We will find a good leader among us. This is a good plan, because we can then have representation as a deputy prime minister at the federal level,” Hajiji said after attending the state’s Deepavali celebration here today.

Zahid, in his speech at BN’s Jelajah Gelombang Biru in Kimanis yesterday, said he would make the promise of two deputy prime ministers from East Malaysia, one each from Sabah and Sarawak, as part of BN’s election manifesto.
