KUALA LUMPUR – Perak DAP’s Nga Kor Ming’s criticism of incumbent Tambun MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu’s dancing video has received backlash with several netizens describing the personal attack as outdated.

Nga posted on Twitter a video of Faizal apparently dancing at a public event with #Pengsan #PolitikPelawak hashtags while pointing out that the Bersatu deputy president has to face off against Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Not a fan of Peja and I hate PN but don’t lah go this low. He’s having fun and he did nothing wrong. Come on PH, focus on other stuff that matters, not this,” said Twitter user @KaelSansSouci.

This was echoed by another user known as @SyuhadaShud, who said Faizal did nothing wrong as he was believed to be at a zumba event.

“The amount of people who are not exactly Peja fans but have enough common sense to know that there’s nothing wrong with this video here. This is an example of how rakyat are way smarter and more mature than politicians.”

User @f15teen15 also defended Faizal as he appeared to be friendly with the public, especially the older generation.

“Unpopular opinion: Peja is exactly the type of politicians loved by the uncles and aunties and makcik and pakcik.”

Meanwhile, lawyer New Sin Yew took to Twitter to remind Nga to move away from personal attacks.

“What is wrong with Peja dancing? You gotta move past your stone age politics man,” said New, referring to Faizal’s popular moniker Peja.

Faizal will be defending his seat come polling day November 19, facing a stiff challenge from Anwar, among others.

Anwar had said that Perak will be a battleground for PH in wresting control of the state government.

Apart from Perak, Pahang and Perlis will be holding their state elections concurrently with GE15. – The Vibes, November 1, 2022
