KOTA KINABALU – Sabah police have received 39 police reports on election offences between October 26 and November 7, and are investigating six cases.

Investigation papers have been opened on the six offences, which include slander and rioting, said Sabah police commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah. He did not provide more details.

However, it is believed that one case might involve allegations by PBS president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili against rival political party, Warisan, that the latter’s members were undocumented migrants.

Ongkili’s earlier claim had seen police reports lodged over the matter.

The riot in Tenom on nomination day, following the Election Commission’s rejection of Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat president Peter Anthony’s nomination for the seat, is also the subject of a police investigation.

On campaign permits, Idris said Sabah police have approved 178 permits in the last 24 hours, adding to the overall 369 permits approved from nomination day on November 5 until yesterday – The Vibes, November 8, 2022
