MELAKA – The government has allocated RM40 million to repair 94 Armed Forces Hospital (94 HAT) at Terendak Camp in Sg Udang here, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the repair works are expected to start in June next year to solve issues relating to water and electricity supply, the operating theatre, the intensive care unit and patients’ rooms.
"To date, we have received RM40 million from the government, and the amount is indeed not enough because it is only to solve pressing issues.
"The hospital is too old, since 1964. This cannot continue for the long term. If we only make repairs, there will be other damage in the future. It will not solve problems, and the hospital will only be able to take small surgery cases.
"To me, what is important, needed and truly ideal is to build a new 94 HAT for a long-term solution. A request will be made to the government for allocations for this."
The facility can accommodate only 114 patients at one time. – Bernama, November 28, 2020
