GE15: ‘extra ballot boxes for 10 parliamentary, two state seats with multi-cornered fights’
The Election Commission says 10 parliamentary constituencies that have seven candidates or more, namely Alor Star, Sg Siput, Ampang, Bangi, Sg Buloh, Kapar, Klang, Kota Raja, Sepang, and Batu, will get an extra ballot box each to fit in the larger ballot papers required. – The Vibes file pic, November 16, 2022

KUALA LUMPUR – The Election Commission (EC) will add one additional ballot box at constituencies that will see seven candidates or more contesting in the coming general election, said EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak.

The EC has identified 10 parliamentary constituencies that have seven candidates or more, namely Alor Star, Sg Siput, Ampang, Bangi, Sg Buloh, Kapar, Klang, Kota Raja, Sepang, and Batu.

Two state seats will also see seven candidates or more contesting in Saturday’s polls, namely Chenderiang in Perak and Bugaya in Sabah

Ikmalrudin said the decision for additional ballot boxes was made after taking into account that seats with seven or more candidates would require bigger ballot papers, which would need more boxes to fit them in.

The EC has set Saturday as polling day. – Bernama, November 16, 2022
