KUALA LUMPUR – Caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has secured the Bera parliamentary seat for a fifth term as the constituency’s MP.

Ismail Sabri, who is also Umno vice-president, garnered 31,762 votes, a 16,695-vote majority over Pakatan Harapan’s Abas Awang.

One other candidate, Perikatan Nasional’s Datuk Asmawi Harun, managed to obtain 12,719 votes.

During the previous national polls, Ismail Sabri had retained Bera with a much lower majority as he beat PKR’s candidate by 2,311 votes.

Ismail Sabri is also Barisan Nasional’s prime minister candidate.

A total of 77,669 voters were registered to Bera, which is in Pahang. – The Vibes, November 20, 2022
