PUTRAJAYA – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has clocked in on his first day in office as prime minister at Perdana Putra, here today.

Dressed in a pink baju Melayu and capal, Anwar was accompanied by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali as he swiped in at his office at Level 5 at 9.54am.

This was follwed by the reciting of the doa.

Others present were Public Service Department director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shafiq Abdullah, Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani and Army Chief General Tan Sri Zamrose Mohd Zain.

Earlier, Anwar was greeted by around 50 media personnel waiting at the Perdana Putra lobby for his arrival.

The 75-year-old Pakatan Harapan chairman was sworn in as the country’s 10th prime minister yesterday before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at the Istana Negara, at 5pm yesterday.

No stranger to working in government, Anwar had been deputy prime minister, finance minister, education minister and culture, youth and sports minister, before spending 24 years in political wilderness and as the opposition until taking office yesterday. – The Vibes, November 25, 2022
