ALOR STAR – The Road Transport Department (RTD) managed to collect revenue amounting to more than RM233 million via 201 RTD eCounter units (kiosks) nationwide from January 1 to December 4.

RTD director-general Datuk Zailani Hashim said the revenue collection involved over 1.6 million kiosk transactions.

“So far, 201 (RTD) kiosks have been set up involving 51 units under the first phase, 50 units under the second phase, and 100 for the third phase across the country as approved in the 2022 budget.

“These kiosks make it easier for customers to make the various transactions offered easily, quickly, and safely without having to go to a RTD office, which has helped increase revenue collection,” he said after opening a Phase 3 RTD kiosk at the Kedah RTD Office here today.

He said five kiosks are operating in Kedah under the first phase, four under the second phase, and six under the third phase, bringing the total to 15 units.

“For the third phase, the kiosk service has been improved, offering 13 types of transactions and a more friendly approach to users with disabilities.

“Among the services provided are motor vehicle licence renewals, first print-outs and copies of licences, review and payment of summonses, print-outs of vehicle information and insurance information, and mySIKAP Public ID registration,” he said.

Zailani said RTD also was ready to offer replacements of important documents such as the Malaysian driving licence and road tax stickers for free to flood victims nationwide.

“As after the previous flood incidents in Yan and Baling, RTD will help victims who have lost important documents such as driving licences. If their information is in the database, we will reissue the necessary documents for free,” he said. – Bernama, December 10, 2022
