KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has filed a defamation suit against Kuala Terengganu MP Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim, who claimed the prime minister lied about receiving a salary of RM1 when he was Selangor’s economic advisor.

Anwar, 75, filed the suit through S. N. Nair & Partners in the Kuala Terengganu High Court and named Ahmad Amzad as the sole defendant.

Lawyer Datuk S. N. Nair, who represented Anwar, said the suit was filed at 3.59pm this afternoon.

The Pakatan Harapan chairman claimed that the defendant had made several defamatory statements to a group of customers while dining at a restaurant on December 7.

The PKR president also said that the statement was republished on TikTok under the name @nelly3868 on the same day and received more than 4,980 views, 62 comments, 116 likes, 18 favourites and 50 shares, and is still accessible today. – Bernama, December 22, 2022
