KUALA LUMPUR – The ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition has agreed to form a presidential council as part of its preparations for the 15th general election.
Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, said the decision was made following its supreme council meeting last night.
The meeting was attended by PN leaders, including Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, Sabah Star president Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan, SAPP president Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee and Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, among others.
In a statement today, Hamzah said the presidential council, comprising party leaders under the PN banner, will be a platform to discuss government policies and increase inter-party cooperation.
The latest announcement comes after Muhyiddin announced the formation of the PN presidential council during Bersatu’s annual general assembly last week.
He had also indicated that Parliament will be dissolved to make way for the general election once the Covid-19 pandemic subsides. – The Vibes, December 2, 2020
