Four Sabah MPs who quit Bersatu get to keep their seats

KOTA KINABALU – The four Sabah MPs who quit Bersatu last year will be keeping their seats.  

The MPs are Datuk Matbali Musah (Sipitang), Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali (Papar), Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan (Batu Sapi), and Datuk Jonathan Yasin (Ranau).  

They were allowed to keep their seats after receiving a copy of a letter from the Dewan Rakyat speaker’s office addressed to Sabah Perikatan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee today.  

Matbali and Armizan confirmed receiving the letter tonight.  

Armizan is a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, while Khairul is deputy tourism, arts, and culture minister in the federal unity government.  

Beluran MP Kiandee, who now heads Sabah Bersatu, had sent a notice to the Dewan Rakyat and speaker Datuk Johari Abdul saying he had up to 21 days to decide whether the four MPs would have to vacate their seats after quitting Bersatu.
