KUALA LUMPUR – The Health Ministry announced 1,123 new Covid-19 infections and four deaths today.

It also announced 1,143 new recoveries, bringing the recovery toll to 60,204.

Sabah again recorded the highest new daily cases at 391 today, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 265 and Selangor with 221.

Cumulatively, Malaysia has 71,359 Covid-19 cases, with 10,775 still active.

Some 130 of the Covid-19 patients are being treated in intensive care units, while 54 require ventilator aid.

The four deaths today bring the national toll to 380. Of the new deaths, two were from Sabah and one each from Johor and Selangor.

The ministry said four new clusters were detected today – Batu Tiga (28 cases), Jalan Domis (12), Andalas (16) and Bulatan construction site (163).

The Bulatan cluster involves Cheras, Titiwangsa and Lembah Pantai in KL. The index case was reported on December 2 in a screening done as a requirement before going overseas. 

As of today, 319 individuals have been screened in this cluster.

Meanwhile, Johor has 66 new cases, followed by Penang (44), Perak (39), Kelantan (35), Kedah (30), Negri Sembilan (10), Labuan (10), Melaka (five), Putrajaya (four), Pahang (two), and Sarawak (one).
