ISKANDAR PUTERI – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has shown up on the last day of the Johor state assembly here, amid the ongoing Perak menteri besar crisis.

Muhyiddin, who is also Gambir assemblyman and Pagoh MP, arrived at about 11.20am and was welcomed by state secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani.

He then sat between two former menteri besar – Datuk Osman Sapian (Bersatu-Kempas) dan Datuk Sahruddin Jamal (Bersatu-Bukit Kepong).

Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad is expected to present his winding-up speech for the state’s 2021 budget before it is called for a vote.

Today’s sitting garnered interest following the fall of the Perikatan Nasional government in Perak on Friday. Yesterday, Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu resigned as Perak menteri besar.

It remains to be seen if Hasni’s position will be in jeopardy after rumours of retaliation on the part of Bersatu Johor.

The 56 Johor seats currently comprise Umno (14), DAP (14), Bersatu (12), Amanah (nine), PKR (four), MIC (two), and PAS (one). – The Vibes, December 6, 2020
