Luxury watch scam: Sibu housewife claims to lose RM526,000

MIRI –  A 60-year-old housewife has lost RM526,400 to an online luxury watch scam.  

Sibu police chief Zulkipli Suhaili said the woman in her police report stated that she had made contacted with the seller in early February who offered to sell her four Rolex watches. 

“In her police report, she said she had made payments to a total of RM526,400 via nine payment transactions.

“She said she had made the payments into a certain bank account from February 15 to 27, but she had not received any of the watches until now and the seller has not contacted her anymore. 

“She lodged a police report as she realized she had been scammed after she could not contact the seller anymore,” said Zulkipli. 

Sibu police have started a probe into the case which has been classified under Section 420 of the Penal Code as a cheating case. – The Vibes, April 13, 2023
