KUALA LUMPUR – Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba was absent from Dewan Rakyat during his ministry's Budget debate at the committee stage today.

This was pointed out after Ahmad Hassan’s (Warisan-Papar) lengthy questions to the ministry.

Hannah Yeoh (PH-Segambut) then said the minister is not in the House to answer a barrage of questions brought up by lawmakers today.

“Speaker, why is the health minister not here when we’re tabling the budget for the Health Ministry? There are no programmes that are more important (for him to attend) than the discussion we are having in the Dewan now,” Yeoh told Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon.

She also asked Rashid if he knew where Adham was. Rashid said the deputy health minister is present to answer all questions.

During the back and forth between several lawmakers, one MP said the health minister was in his office.

Meanwhile, Ahmad in his questions brought up that the Papar Hospital is under-equipped, and asked what initiatives the government would take to improve its services.

He also asked how many of Sabah’s 24 public hospitals would be upgraded and at what cost. – The Vibes, December 9, 2020
