KUALA LUMPUR – Film Directors Association of Malaysia (FDAM) president Ahmad Ibrahim is currently in critical condition at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).
The 74-year-old Ahmad, who is popularly known as Mat London, was admitted to the hospital on June 13 with a lung infection, and his health has since deteriorated.
According to Berita Harian, Ahmad’s son-in-law, Muhamad Daniel Ahmad, said his father-in-law had to be intubated due to his weakening lungs and heart.
“Papa was initially admitted to the hospital on June 13 after experiencing discomfort and was diagnosed with a bacterial lung infection,” Danial told the daily.
“He was initially treated in the regular ward but later transferred to the isolation ward due to his deteriorating health. Eventually, he was moved to the ICU for close monitoring.”
“Yesterday, his condition became critical as he stopped responding and entered a semi-conscious state.
“Due to his low oxygen levels and weak heart rate, it was necessary to intubate him.”
Daniel also said that Ahmad is facing complications from other health issues that have further affected his health condition.
“In addition to the lung infection and the significant weakness in his heart’s ability to pump blood, Mat London is also facing kidney problems,” Daniel said.
Daniel requested the support and prayers of all those who know the veteran director.
“I kindly ask everyone to pray for Mat London’s swift recovery,” Daniel said. – The Vibes, June 28, 2023
