MELAKA – A 9-year-old boy died after he is believed to have been strangled by his 14-year-old brother in Kg Bukit Piatu, here, about noon today.

A witness, Qhurun Ain Johani, 31, who is also the neighbour, said the victim’s mother realised what had happened after she saw a CCTV recording from the house through her handphone.

Reports in Kosmo and Utusan Malaysia said the mother was at work and had called the neighbour to check on the two boys after she saw her older son strangling the younger one.

“As soon as I entered the house, I screamed when I saw the older boy strangling his brother, who had already turned pale and was probably dead at the time,” said Qhurun.

She said the older brother did not seem to realise what he had done.

The victim is the third of four siblings, while the suspect is the eldest.

The two others were at school, while the victim was unwell and stayed home with his brother, who was also unwell.

Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
