SEREMBAN – Former senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi has joined Bersatu.

The former newsreader, 54, received her membership form from party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the launch of Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) state election machinery for Negri Sembilan here last night.

Ras Adiba was chairman of the National News Agency, Bernama, from 2020 until recently.

Speaking to reporters later, Ras Adiba, an advocate for the disabled, said she trusts Bersatu to take care of society’s most vulnerable.

“The rakyat is suffering, and I and my friends will give our full support to efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the handicapped and the elderly," she said.

Also receiving his membership form was former Putrajaya Umno deputy chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.

Former Negri Sembilan PKR Women’s chief Azlimah Zamli and former PKR Jelebu branch chief Yus Mazmi Ahmad Yusof also submitted their membership application forms.

PN chairman Muhyiddin, in his speech at the machinery launch last night, expressed confidence that his coalition will be given the mandate to take Negri Sembilan from Pakatan Harapan and be given the mandate to rule the state in the upcoming state elections.

He stated that the people of Negri Sembilan will vote for change and a better future, criticising the PH government for not bringing about any positive changes in the last five years.

Muhyiddin also highlighted the significant increase in the cost of living under the unity government and claimed that PN had managed to control prices during his time as prime minister.

“Prices of essential items such as vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, and rice have significantly increased compared to when PN was the government,” he said to a crowd of about 6,000 people, which organisers estimated to be about 10,000 at Dewan Perdana KRS in Sikamat last night. – The Vibes,  July 10, 2023
