KUALA LUMPUR – The nomination process for the six state elections and Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat progressed smoothly without any untoward incidents.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said police patrols at 173 nomination centres also said the nomination process progressed incident-free.
Both supporters and candidates were cooperative and followed all rules and regulations set.
“We would like to thank all candidates and groups of supporters who were well-behaved since nominations started at 9am today.
“The nomination process overall was well behaved and it ended as 11am,” he said.
He said there were a total of 17,176 policemen and officers on duty at the 173 nomination centres in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pulau Pinang, and Kedah today.
“The Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department also sent 82 Ops Cantas teams involving 1,459 officers and personnel to monitor the entire process.
“We also had help from 572 Rela members,” he said.
He said police also used drones in the six states with visuals sent directly to the Ops Cantas operations room in Bukit Aman.
