PETALING JAYA – Seputeh Muda today called on Langkawi MP Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah to openly apologise to Teresa Kok over his allegedly sexist remark in the Dewan Rakyat recently.

Seputeh Muda, in a statement, said such behaviour cannot be accepted and must be rejected by all quarters.

Its chief Jeevan Kuppusamy said Suhaimi’s statements were sexist and disrespected Kok, the Seputeh MP.

“The statement was also totally disrespectful of women. Such behaviour at this time and age cannot be accepted, especially coming from a Member of Parliament,” he said.

On Thursday, Kok asked Suhaimi in the Dewan Rakyat if visitors were allowed to wear shorts in Langkawi.

In reply, he said, “I want to invite YB Seputeh to Langkawi even if she is not wearing anything,” prompting other MPs to stand up and ask him to retract his statement.

Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Alice Lau had told him to sit down, as he had already exceeded his time.

“Why are you (Seputeh) asking about shorts? I want to imagine what Seputeh wears when she comes to Langkawi,” he said, prompting Lau to once again ask him to sit down.

“Muda urges Suhaimi to apologise, while action should also be taken against him,” added Jeevan. – The Vibes, October 28, 2023
