FORMER minister Khairy Jamaluddin once again stressed that he has no interest in contesting for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) presidency.

He insisted that FAM needs to first resolve its leadership crisis and seek guidance from the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

“I’m not interested in the presidency of FAM. I'm just someone who's involved in sports and likes to give my views," said the former FAM deputy president.

Datuk Joehari Ayub resigned from his position as FAM president last month after just six months into his job.

Deputy president Datuk Yusoff Mahadi is the acting president until the FAM congress next year.

Khairy, now an advisor to Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), said he preferred to remain on the sidelines and contribute ideas, while holding up the Southern Tigers as the benchmark for Malaysian football.
