KUALA LUMPUR – XOX Berhad has been announced as the new owner of Perak FC.

The Malaysian Football League (MFL) confirmed that the technology corporation as the club’s new owners effective today.

XOX has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Perak FC on the acquisition of the club with a full and legal process due to be finalised.

The matter was confirmed by the MFL Club Licensing Unit after XOX had successfully prepared all documents requested by MFL today, which also happens to be the deadline.

Previously, First Instance Body (FIB) chairman Sheikh Mohd Nasir said the body had given the club’s management until April 29 to complete the ongoing negotiation process with their new owners.

In a statement, MFL said XOX’s top management had already met and discussed with Perak FC’s head coach, assistant coach, and two players about their commitment as well as discussing the team’s direction in the short and long term, salary arrears along with plans once the transfer ban has been lifted.

“MFL believes that the arrival of XOX not only marks the resurrection of Perak FC, which is backed by strong and organised corporation, but this also marks a positive step towards the entry of another large company into the ownership of a football club in Malaysia.

“MFL is confident that Perak FC will now be able to move forward with confidence once the acquisition processes have been completed successfully,” it said in the statement.

Perak FC were previously slammed with a nine-point deduction for the 2022 Premier League season for failing to settle salary arrears of players and officials from the main and reserve teams as of November 2021. – The Vibes, April 29, 2022.
