KUALA LUMPUR – The Johor Darul Ta’zim football club is enjoying an extraordinary year, but the Southern Tigers have shifted to top gear as it aims to end 2022 on a higher note.
In a statement posted on social media, Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim noted a great year for JDT so far, with plenty of success from both the senior and junior teams but anticipated a long journey ahead for the club in striving for greater achievements.
“We will need the backing of everyone in the JDT family – management, coaches, players, staff, and fans to complete this season on a higher note,” he said.
JDT is on the verge of achieving a triple hattrick, as they are on track to clinching this year’s Super League title for a record ninth streak.

“We have another five matches to secure the title, but anything can happen in football, and we will need the support from the entire JDT family,” he said
JDT is leading the Super League standings with 43 points from 17 matches, while second-placed Sabah, having played 18 matches, trails the Southern Tigers by seven points.
JDT is slated to take on Kedah twice, while their other matches are against Negri Sembilan, Sabah, and Pahang.
Earlier, JDT created history by reaching the AFC Champions League knockout rounds – the first Malaysian club to achieve the feat before winning the FA Cup at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
At the same time, JDT II – its junior division – is likely to be crowned as the new Premier League champions today as a win or draw against Selangor II at the UiTM Stadium will seal the deal.
The junior club sits comfortably on top of the Premier League table with 39 points, while second place Kelantan trail with 36 points. – The Vibes, September 30, 2022
