KUALA LUMPUR – Sime Darby Property Bhd is ready to launch phase 3B of the Battersea Power Station project this year.

Non-independent and non-executive chairman Rizal Rickman Ramli said the project in central London is showing promising prospects, with crowds returning to the development for the summer.

“Future phases of the Battersea Power Station project are currently under review, guided by a flexible planning and development strategy.

“The group is monitoring the market trends in London as well as in the United Kingdom closely, and learning from the experience of managing this monumental investment for future business opportunities,” he said in Sime Darby’s integrated annual report 2021 released today.

Sime Darby holds 40% of the joint-venture development project and it is currently chairing the venture.

Despite Sime Darby’s expectations of better prospects and opportunities in 2022, the firm believes that there are still uncertainties and challenges in the economy due to rising inflation, geopolitical tensions and the lingering impact of the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic.

“However, with the group’s strong leadership, coupled with agile employees and sound fundamentals, we are confident that our ability will enable us to navigate through situations and challenges with sustained success.

“Overall, we are confident that we are on track to achieving our end goal of becoming a real estate company by 2025,” added Rizal. – Bernama, April 25, 2022
