SHAH ALAM – Agrobank has approved 77 moratorium applications worth RM22 million as of today for farmers in Terengganu and Pahang affected by floods last year.

Agrobank president and chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said currently the bank was processing 90 new applications worth RM10 million.

He said they have yet to receive any moratorium applications from farmers in Johor who were affected by floods, but several individuals had reached out inquiring about the moratorium.

“They have yet been able to come to the bank to apply for the moratorium. Maybe a month after floods recede, they will come, similar to those in Terengganu and Pahang,” he told reporters after an aid presentation ceremony officiated by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

Mohamad was reported to have announced that Agrobank offered six-month moratoriums to farmers affected by recent floods and that they could apply at any branch from last week.

Today’s aid presentation involved 200 primary students from 10 schools in the Kota Raja parliamentary constituency, who each received RM150, along with school supplies.

Mohamad, who is also Kota Raja MP, said the programme aimed to help B40 families, single mothers and orphans with the preparation of school supplies. – Bernama, March 13, 2023
