KUALA LUMPUR – Just a day after Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree calling for an end to politicking, the media were alerted to a slew of meetings of political bigwigs on Monday morning.
Early morning, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had a meeting in Putrajaya with his supposed allies. Notably absent was Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who called in sick.
Soon after, Umno headquarters in Menara Dato’ Onn here was abuzz with talk of two pow-wow sessions – one was for Barisan Nasional lawmakers and later the coalition’s lynchpin Supreme Council in two separate sessions.
While many who attended remain tight-lipped over what transpired during these meetings, the Supreme Council meeting ended early Tuesday morning in an anti-climactic five-paragraph media statement. – The Vibes, October 28, 2020
