Light aircraft crashes in Kapar, Klang

A LIGHT aircraft is believed to have crashed in the vicinity of Sekolah Kebangsaan Tok Muda, Kapar, today.

The incident is reported to have occurred around 1.35pm.

Videos showing the alleged incident and scattered debris, including parts with the aircraft's registration number, have surfaced on social media.

According to the Kapar Fire and Rescue Services Department, they received a call from residents in the area about 1.56pm informing them that a small aircraft was on fire in Kampung Tok Muda in Kapar, Klang.

"When we reached the area, we immediately rushed to control the fire and look for any survivors," said firemen.

Photographs from the department to the media indicated that the aircraft had markings of Singapore-based flight trainer company Aviation Safety Technology Pte Ltd., while identification on the aircraft indicates that it is a Gabriél BK160 TR training aircraft by Italian manufacturer Blackshape.

Bernama earlier reported that Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan had confirmed the incident. 

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) in a statement confirmed that the light aircraft model BK160 Gabriel, registration number I-POOC crashed near Kapar.

The aircraft is operated by Air Adventure Flying Club and left Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang at 1.28pm for a recreational flight.

CAAM Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud said the last contact the aircraft had with air traffic control was 1.35pm.

The Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control Centre (KLATCC) was immediately activated to determine the location of the aircraft.

Two people, including the pilot, were onboard and their conditions are yet to be determined.
