THE suspect in the kidnapping case of six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui has been remanded for another six days.

Magistrate Noorfazlin Hamdan issued the remand order at the Johor Baru magistrate’s court today.

Noorfazlin ordered the remand of the 31-year-old male suspect from tomorrow until Sunday.

Previously, the suspect was remanded for seven days from 23 July until today to assist the investigation under Section 365 of the Penal Code and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

The suspect arrived at the court complex at 8.50 am wearing a purple t-shirt and handcuffs, closely guarded by police officers.

This morning, Johor police chief CP M Kumar requested the remand extension to enable further investigation into the suspect, who was arrested with the victim at a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor.

Iskandar Puteri district police chief ACP M Kumarasan had previously requested public assistance in locating the child, who was reported missing by her father at 8.30 pm on 20 July at a shopping centre.

The child was found safe at a budget hotel in Batang Kali at 4.45 am on 23 July, and the police arrested a man who was found with her. – 29 July 2024.
