Anwar extends condolences to Daim's family

They served together in former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Cabinet in the 1980s, when Daim was finance minister and Anwar was agriculture minister.

Anwar extends condolences to Daim's family
 Daim died at 8.21 am today while receiving treatment at Assunta Hospital in Petaling Jaya. - November 13, 2024

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his condolences to the family of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, who passed away this morning.

Anwar said he learned of Daim's death upon arriving in Lima, Peru.

"The government acknowledges his service and contribution to the country, especially when he was the finance minister. Al-Fatihah," he said in a Facebook post.

They served together in former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Cabinet in the 1980s, when Daim was finance minister and Anwar was agriculture minister.

 Daim died at 8.21 am today while receiving treatment at Assunta Hospital in Petaling Jaya.

Daim, whose real name is Che Abdul Daim Zainuddin, served as Finance Minister from 1984 to 1991 and held the position again from 1999 to 2001.

His remains are due to be buried at the Bukit Kiara 1 Cemetery after the Asar prayers today. - November 13, 2024
