THE 10-year-old boy, believed to have choked on a gummy candy died about 11pm yesterday.
According to reports in Harian Metro, the boy's aunt, Siti Farhani Mohamad Fikri, 33, confirmed the heartbreaking news when contacted.
"Fahmi (Mohamad Fahmi Hafiz Mohamad Fakhruddin) passed away around 11pm. He died while receiving treatment at the Penang General Hospital (HPP)," she said.
His body is expected to be taken back to the grandmother's house in Permatang Binjai, Penaga.
Funeral arrangements will be made at the house, and the burial is expected to take place today (Friday), she said.
It was earlier reported that the boy was critical condition and was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of HPP.
The child is said to have collapsed during Quran and Fardhu 'Ain (Kafa) class at Sungai Dua, Butterworth, at 2.30pm on Tuesday. – February 21, 2025
