A MAN believed to be involved in the abduction of a teenage girl was killed in a shootout with the police in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang early this morning.

The 16-year-old victim who was kidnapped in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan at 5.45pm on April 10 was released after a ransom was paid.

According to reports, Datuk Fadil Marsus, the deputy director (intelligence/operations) of the Criminal Investigation Department at Bukit Aman said the kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of RM2 million before the victim's family paid RM280,000 and a number of jewellery items.

The victim was released in Sendayan at 8:30 pm the next day.

Police investigations then led to several raids and arrests.

He explained that around 5 am this morning, the 21-year-old suspect was detected at a location in the Klang area.

A police team then chased the car driven by the suspect all the way to Jalan Bayu Tinggi, Bandar Bukit Tinggi.

The suspect refused to stop the car and rammed the police vehicle then opened fire.

The car the suspect was in was intercepted before the suspect was shot dead.

"There were also several raids and arrests we made shortly after the incident," Fadil reportedly said.

The car driven by the suspect was allegedly used to drop off the victim at a location in Sendayan.

Upon inspection, police found a pistol and a machete in the car.

He also expressed his gratitude to the community for providing information which led to the crippling of the kidnapping group. – April 14, 2025
