THE driver of the Perodua Bezza car involved in an accident at a traffic light in Temerloh that killed two women has been remanded for seven days starting Thursday to assist with investigations.
Drugs were also later found in the vehicle
Temerloh District Police Chief, Mazlan Hassan said the remand was issued after the suspect, a 38-year-old man, was brought before the Temerloh Court.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 and Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
In the incident at about 11pm yesterday, the motorcycle ridden by Nur Erdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri, 18, and her pillion, Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman, 18, was hit by a car driven by the suspect while stopping at a traffic light on Jalan Tengku Ismail.
The women who were killed at the scene were on their way to get some food.
Initial investigations found that both vehicles were heading from Mentakab towards the Bukit Angin roundabout.
"When they arrived at the scene, the motorcycle had stopped because the traffic light was red while the car did not stop and hit the back of the motorcycle.
He said that further inspections at the Temerloh District Police Headquarters (IPD) compound at around 12.30 pm found a transparent plastic packet containing drugs suspected to be syabu weighing an estimated 50.85 grams in the back seat of the suspect's car.
"Also found were two transparent plastic packets suspected to be heroin, estimated to weigh 0.85 grams.
"The total value of the drugs seized was RM6,110 and RM500 in cash was also found.
“The driver's initial urine screening test results were found to be negative," he added. – June 12, 2025
