A FORMER principal was sentenced to 107 years in prison by the Kuala Terengganu Sessions Court here yesterday after being found guilty of 13 charges involving sexual offences against his student.
The accused, Rosli Abd Rahman, 60, was sentenced after the court found that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt on the charges.
According to the charges, Rosli was charged with sexual communication in addition to rape and physical sexual assault against the victim.
The act was allegedly committed against the victim, who was then 16 years and eight months old, between November 2020 and November 2021 around this district and Marang.
Rosli faces five charges of rape under Section 376(2)(f) of the Penal Code, in addition to four charges under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (SOCCA).
The accused was also charged with two charges of sexual communication under Section 11(1)(a) and one charge each under Sections 14(c) and 14(d) of the same act.
The court sentenced him to one year in prison for the offence under Section 11 (1) (a) and five years in prison for the offence under Section 14 (a), 14 (c) and 14 (d) of the AKSTKK 2017.
For each charge under Section 376 (2) (f), the accused was sentenced to 15 years in prisonThe court, however, ruled that all sentences would run concurrently, making the actual prison term that the accused will serve only 15 years, starting today.
The court also allowed a stay of execution pending the appeal process, and set bail at RM40,000.
