MUDA today described the acquittal of its former president, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, as a "victory that marks the beginning of a new chapter in national politics."
The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) in a statement said the party was relieved and immensely grateful for the verdict.
"It is a turning point not just for Syed Saddiq but for Malaysian politics. This decision is not merely about the freedom of one individual, but symbolises the triumph of truth, justice and courage — values that have withstood political pressure, personal attacks, and a prosecution that has been questioned by the public for over five years," it said.
Muda also praised Syed Saddiq, the Muar member of Parliament, for rejecting offers and refusing to bow to backdoor negotiations that could have benefited him personally, choosing instead to defend his integrity through the courts.
"He took the hardest path, putting his faith in the justice system. Today's verdict affirms his extraordinary courage, resilience and honesty, said Muda, adding that the acquittal should mark the start of a new chapter in Malaysian politics.
"This is a loud call for cleaner, more progressive and principled politics — the kind that truly represents the people."
Muda added that the case had opened the nation's eyes to the reality of the current system, while uniting youth, activists, professionals and everyday Malaysians in a shared hope for a better Malaysia governed with integrity and moral courage. - June 25, 2025
