A PERAK assistant land officer has been remanded for five days to assist investigations into allegations of abuse of power and the use of false information in a land ownership transfer involving state property last year.

The remand order, effective until Monday, was issued by Senior Assistant Registrar of the Ipoh Magistrates’ Court, Noor Azreen Liana Mohd Darus, following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Thursday.

Also remanded is a man believed to have acted as a land broker in the same transaction.

Both suspects, aged 40 and 47, were arrested on Wednesday afternoon after voluntarily presenting themselves at the Perak MACC office between 3.30 p.m. and 3.45 p.m.

According to a source, the two are suspected of conspiring to submit and use a falsified Form 14A – the official document for land title transfer – involving a plot of land under the Mukim Lenggong title.

“The land, which was sold for RM260,000, was transferred to a new owner without the knowledge or consent of the original titleholder,” the source said.

MACC investigations are ongoing. - September 25, 2025
