A COUPLE which returned to their hotel late at night after a full day of sightseeing in Langkawi, received a rude shock when they found a woman with long-hair woman, sound asleep in their bed.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday about 11.30pm.

The wife recalled that before they left the room earlier in the afternoon, they locked the door and hung a “Please clean the room” sign outside.

They also left a spare card inside so that the air conditioning would continue to operate and the room would remain cold for their return.

"It was almost midnight, and I was so scared that I got goosebumps all over my body. I thought I saw a ghost!" the woman said.

The couple which booked a two-night stay at the hotel, then alerted the front desk where only one employee was on duty.

Two security guards were sent up with a wheelchair as the woman in the bed appeared heavily drunk.

The woman said the guards were not allowed to physically carry the woman off from the bed as their policy prohibited them from touching the guests.

As such, they tried calling out to her from outside the room, but she remained unresponsive and was too drunk to wake from her stupor.

It wasn't under the early hours of the morning that the hotel discovered the woman was staying in the next room.

She and her boyfriend were on their way to their room after drinking and in a daze, she stumbled into the couple's room and dozed off.

The hotel also later admitted that the cleaning staff was accidentally left the couple's room unlocked, allowing the stranger access.

None of the couple’s belongings were lost and they decided not to escalate the matter further.

The couple did not reveal the hotel's name and are negotiating a refund for their 'bizarre' encounter. - September 30, 2025
