POLICE confirmed that the cause of death of a man who was found in a bag with a cut on his neck and his hands tied behind the Ampang Jajar Flats, Jalan Permatang Pauh in George Town, was suffocation.

Penang Police Chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the matter was confirmed by a post-mortem by forensic experts from the Penang Hospital.

“The results of the investigation at the scene found that the body was stuffed in a bag, with an injuries to the neck, hands tied, and head covered with plastic.

“Police are still investigating whether the victim was killed at another location before the body was wrapped and dumped in the area,” he said in a statement on Friday.

He said the investigation is being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.Azizee also asked the public who have any information regarding the incident to immediately contact the Investigating Officer, Assistant Superintendent Norhaslinda Rahmat at 04-576 2222 ext. 2275 or come to any nearby police station to assist in the investigation.

“The public’s cooperation is very much needed to assist in the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice,” he said.

Earlier, it was reported that the man’s body was identified as Lee Boon Han, 31, who worked as an insurance agent.

The victim was previously reported missing on October 8 after going out to Perlis on business and could not be contacted. Following this, the victim's father, 69, a businessman, came forward to lodge a police report. - October 10, 2025
