THE situation in Taman Jasa, Ijok, yesterday evening turned chaotic when a man suddenly went on a rampage while holding a meat cleaver before being calmed down by police who rushed to the scene.
Kuala Selangor District Police Chief, Superintendent Azaharudin Tajuddin said police received a call from the public at about 6pm informing them of an incident where a man went on rampage and tried to attack a member of the public in the housing area.
"Acting on information, a team of officers from the Bestari Jaya Police Station rushed to the location and found the suspect screaming while holding a meat cleaver.
"The policemen managed to calm the situation before arresting the man without any injuries to anyone," he said in a statement on Monday.
Azaharudin said the suspect is now being remanded for six days from Monday to Saturday to assist in investigations under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
He also asked members of the public with information to contact the Kuala Selangor District Police Headquarters (IPD) Operations Room at 03-3289 1222 or any nearby police station.
Earlier, a video went viral on social media showing the incident when police had to draw their pistols to calm a man who was on rampage while holding a meat cleaver.
In the 30-second video, several policemen arrived and pointed their firearms at the suspect as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident. - October 13, 2025
