THE woman who was found dead, believed to have been murdered with her daughter in Juru, last night was identified as Sariya Che Hin, 51, while the 11-year-old victim was identified as Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim.

Their identities were confirmed by Sariya's brother, Bismi Che Hin, 61, who rushed over from Jeneri in Sik, Kedah upon learning of the tragic incident that befell the duo at their rented house in Kampung Sekolah Juru.

According to him, the deceased, who is also the youngest of six siblings, was living with her second husband after getting married a few years ago.

Bismi said that his sister had never told him of any problems, but was always cheerful as usual.

He added that the deceased had a son who was now in his 20s before taking in their niece, Nur Afrina, as an adopted child who she had raised since childhood.

According to him, after the death of his parents, they and the other siblings rarely saw each other after each of them took their own path with their families.

"However, our relationship remained close when we were in touch," he said.

Sariya and Nur Afrina Alisha were found dead at around 7.30 pm yesterday before the bodies were taken to the Seberang Jaya Hospital forensic unit for a post-mortem.

The bodies are expected to be buried at the Kampung Jeneri Cemetery once the process is completed. – October 19, 2025
