IN A final good-bye, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh placed a team MAS national volleyball jersey in the casket of Yap Shing Xuen at the Nirvana Memorial Centre in Shah Alam before her cremation today.

Yap, an avid volleyball player was brutally stabbed to death at her secondary school on October 14.

"As the nation bids farewell to our young Shing Xuen today, KBSMalaysia honoured her by placing our Team MAS jersey in her resting place.

"Shing Xuen who was brutally murdered in Bandar Utama school enjoyed playing volleyball and lived an active life.

"I told Lee Ping, her mom that I wanted her to have our national jersey and she said Shing Xuen would have loved it," Yeoh said in a Facebook post.

She added, "Sending our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family for their painful loss. Malaysia mourns with them. In the days to come, I will do whatever I can to fight the incel culture among the young." – October 20, 2025
