EFFORTS to obtain a comment from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the resignation of Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick on Saturday night have so far been unsuccessful.
Media representatives sought Anwar’s reaction during his engagements at Tamu Jalan Gaya and the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Sunday morning, but the prime minister did not provide an immediate statement.
Speaking briefly after attending the Rancakkan Madani Sabah programme at SICC in Kota Kinabalu, Anwar indicated that he would address the matter in the near future. “I will, I will…” he said, offering only a brief response as he moved past the assembled press.
Ewon is reported to have resigned on principle, citing concerns over the implementation of Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the Federal Constitution.
His decision followed a review of the written judgment by Kota Kinabalu High Court Judge Celestina Stuel Galid on a judicial review filed by the Sabah Law Society. - November 9, 2025
