THE Immigration Department has raided a computer factory in Johor Bahru after discovering that it was employing foreign nationals without valid permits.
Johor Immigration Director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus stated that initial investigations indicated a deliberate breach of immigration laws at the facility.
The operation, carried out on Tuesday, resulted in the detention of 356 undocumented workers aged between 18 and 46, alongside two human resources officers from the factory.
Those apprehended included nationals from India, the Philippines, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, and Indonesia.
Earlier attempts by some of the foreign workers to flee the premises were thwarted when enforcement officers secured all entrances and exits to the factory.
“The investigation is being conducted under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963,” Datuk Mohd Rusdi added. - December 18, 2025
