KELANTAN police have established a special task force to identify the individuals responsible for threatening graffiti discovered on the perimeter wall of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) Kelantan contingent’s shooting range in Gunong, Bachok, believed to have occurred on 22 December.
Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat condemned the act as a brazen challenge to authority, while noting that it may have been carried out by youths.
He said investigators are gathering information, including from local residents, to track down those responsible and assured that strict action will be taken.
“Those responsible can be described as insolent for daring to threaten the authorities who are performing their duties to combat crime. This act appears to directly challenge the credibility of the security forces,” he told Bernama.
Mohd Yusoff added that this is the first time he has received a written and publicly displayed threat, contrasting with prior warnings obtained through intelligence sources.
The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
“I believe this threat is specifically directed at me because of the police’s firm approach in cracking down on various criminal activities, including drugs, loan sharking, and organised crime in the state,” he said, emphasising that such threats will not deter him or the Kelantan police from maintaining public safety and community harmony.
