A MAN was arrested after forcing a woman to perform an indecent act, then stealing the victim's and her lover's mobile phones in an incident in Setapak, last Tuesday.

The incident at 11.30 pm involved a 19-year-old female student and her 20-year-old boyfriend.

Wangsa Maju District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Lazim Ismail, said police received a report at 6.23 pm last Wednesday.

He said that at the time of the incident, the two victims were eating burgers in a car in the parking lot of a food court in Ayer Panas, Setapak.

“The victims were said to be recording a ‘mukbang challenge’ video before being approached by a 24-year-old suspect who reprimanded and accused them of committing indecent acts in the car.

“The suspect took the identity cards of both victims and forced the woman to perform indecent acts on him.

“The suspect then fled with the mobile phones belonging to both victims,” he said in a statement today.

Mohammad Lazim said that following this, the police tracked down the suspect before arresting him in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, on Thursday.

"The suspect is now remanded for a week until January 14 to assist in investigations under Sections 392 and 377C of the Penal Code," he said. – January 10, 2026
