THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained another senior Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) officer as part of an ongoing corruption investigation.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the officer was detained at 11 am today.

He stated the individual is being investigated under the relevant legal provisions.

Azam also confirmed a former army chief, previously remanded in the case, was released from custody on Monday after his remand period ended.

“MACC will inform of any further developments regarding the cases in a press conference scheduled to be held tomorrow,” he said as reported by Bernama.

The commission had earlier applied to extend the remand of the former chief based on investigation needs.

This probe previously led to the seizure of luxury assets worth over RM2.2 million.

The assets were found during a search of a residence on the East Coast, believed linked to a former top officer’s second wife.

MACC investigators had visited the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) on December 23.

They examined projects awarded through open tender and procurement under the Army Responsibility Centre. – January 14, 2026
