TAN Sri Krishnan Tan has come forward to clarify that he was not involved in the day-to-day operations of IJM Corporation Bhd (IJM), following media reports on investigations involving the company's top executives by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
In a statement, he stated that he only served as a non-executive chairman at the company.
"I am the Non-Executive Chairman of IJM Corporation Bhd, and I am not involved in the day-to-day operations and management of the company," he said.
Krishnan also expressed his readiness to continue to provide full cooperation to the authorities.
"I have provided full cooperation to the authorities and will continue to do so. I have full confidence in the enforcement process and the country's laws.
“At this time, it is inappropriate for me to comment further as the investigation is ongoing,” he explained.
On Friday, MACC arrested the Chairman of IJM Corporation Berhad to assist in investigations into a case related to corporate governance issues, procurement processes, financial transactions and ownership of assets abroad estimated to be worth approximately RM2.5 billion. According to sources, the suspect, a man in his 70s, was arrested at about 7 pm, Thursday, at the MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya after his residence was raided.
On January 19, the Special Operations Division (SOD) investigated the suspect related to corporate governance, procurement processes, financial transactions and ownership of assets amounting to RM2.5 billion abroad and potential elements of offences under relevant legal provisions.
The source added that the investigation is also focusing on efforts to trace and seize other assets suspected to have been obtained through money laundering activities, and so far, the party has called 15 witnesses, including the suspect's wife, to record their statements.
Meanwhile, IJM, in a separate statement, assured all stakeholders that its business operations have not been affected by the ongoing investigation.
"The Board of Directors would like to assure all stakeholders that the company's business operations will continue as usual," the statement said.
“The Board of Directors and management team remain focused on business continuity, maintaining the confidence of customers and business partners and upholding high standards of corporate governance and compliance,” the statement said.
The company also said it would fully cooperate with the authorities, respond promptly to all requests and provide all relevant information and personnel to facilitate the investigation.
“IJM has established adequate procedures and maintains a strong governance framework, including the implementation of an Anti-Corruption Management System certified in accordance with ISO 37001:2025,” it added.
The company also clarified that it would not be issuing any further comments on the matter at this time as it is still under investigation.
“The company will provide further updates as necessary and in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. – February 8, 2026
