A FORMER political secretary to a former Chief Minister of Melaka and his wife, suspected of soliciting and accepting a bribe of about RM3 million, arrived at the Magistrate's Court for a remand application process in Putrajaya this morning.

The two suspects, who were wearing orange lock-up attire, arrived at about 9.10 am in a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) van before being brought into the court complex.

Yesterday, the MACC arrested the two suspects on suspicion of soliciting and accepting bribes in return for helping a company be appointed as a concessionaire for a sea reclamation project around Melaka.

The arrest of the two individuals was confirmed by MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, and the case is being investigated under the MACC Act 2009.

According to sources, the two suspects, a husband and wife, were arrested at about 2 pm yesterday when they arrived to give statements at the MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya.

“Initial investigations found that the suspect, who has the title of Datuk Wira, is believed to have committed the act between February and November 2021.
